When do I pay the University for tuition and fees?

Should students bring a computer to campus with them?
A personal computer is not a requirement. However, most students bring a computer since it facilitates their work and provides access to the Internet. Adelphi has negotiated discounts with select vendors for students interested in purchasing a computer. Adelphi also provides computing facilities for students.
How do parents change their mailing address with the University to ensure receipt of necessary mail?
Students must make any necessary address changes by completing a form at the Office of the University Registrar. Parents do not change their mailing address.
Is it possible for a student to have the different addresses of his/her two parents listed so each parent can receive information?
The Office of the University Registrar maintains a PGS (parent/guardian/spouse) address but only if (a) the student provides it or (b) the student changes it. Since only one PGS address is maintained, it is not possible for a student to have information sent to two different addresses.
How does the University know my campus address?
The Office of Residential Life and Housing creates and maintains your campus address, which is part of the student record.
Where can I buy books?
The Adelphi University Bookstore, located in the lower level of the University Center, is a full-service bookstore stocked with required course books (new and used). Some books may be available in e-book format. The bookstore also carries magazines, paperbacks, clothing, stationery and other items to meet the personal needs of students.
How safe is campus?
Adelphi University has long been committed to maintaining a comprehensive safety and crime prevention program for our students, faculty, and staff. With the assistance of the entire Adelphi community and the cooperation of the Garden City Police Department, this program has contributed to what we believe is an excellent record of safety. Although Garden City remains one of the safest neighborhoods on Long Island, and Adelphi one of the safest campuses in the country, we remain as determined as ever to ensure the safety of the community. The Department of Public Safety and Transportation has almost 40 officers who patrol the campus on foot, by bicycle and in vehicles.
How can I find out more about Public Safety?
Colleges and universities are required by the federal government to publish and distribute an annual security report containing campus security policies, procedures, programs as well as campus crime statistics.
Where will my grades be sent?
Once a professor has posted your grade, you can access it online using CLASS. Printed reports are sent to the student’s permanent address on file when the semester has ended. Notify the Registrar if have a change of address.
When should I first visit the Center for Career Development?
Many students make the mistake of thinking they don’t need to visit the Center for Career Development until their senior year or upon graduation. You should make an appointment with a career counselor as soon as possible to learn about the Center’s resources and to set up a four-year career plan.
Should I work while in college?
You need to examine your financial need, credit obligations, involvement in cocurricular activities, and family responsibilities before deciding to work while in college. Keep in mind that being a full-time student is a full-time endeavor. A full load of 12-18 credits requires about 48-54 hours a week between class work and homework. An on-campus job may be more practical, especially if you are living in a residence hall.
